MY STORY

I always thought I had more time.

This is the story of a dream I carried for most of my life—and what finally happened when I stopped telling myself I would get to it someday.

The Dream I Put Away

I wanted to be a writer when I was young. That dream led me to SUNY Oswego, where I earned a BFA in Creative Writing.

Life eventually took me in another direction, and I spent decades building a career and a business.

But the desire to write never left.At sixty-eight, I returned to it and began writing again.

The Twenty-Year-Old Me

At twenty, I was a dreamer. I wanted to write the great American novel or a screenplay. Like many young writers, I dreamed about success. Maybe even a little fame and fortune.
But beneath all of that was something quieter and more important.
I wanted to make my mother proud.
She believed there was a writer in me. For a long time, I believed it too.

Life Happened

I built a business.

Raised a family.

Chased responsibilities.

And I kept telling myself I'd write someday.

The dream did not disappear. It simply became quiete

It waited while years became decades.

Why Now?

Then one day I realized: someday isn't an endless promise.
At sixty-eight, I realized my time wasn’t over, but it wasn’t unlimited.
Someday does not arrive on its own. You have to choose it.
I was afraid of leaving this world without doing what I'd always dreamed of.
So I stopped waiting and started writing again.

What I Hope the Writing Does

I don't expect you to see the world the way I do. I only hope that somewhere in these pages, you'll recognize a piece of your own story.
If one of my poems makes someone feel less alone...
If it brings back a love worth remembering...
If it gives them courage to open a door long kept closed...
Or inspires them to chase a dream they nearly gave up on...
Then every word was worth writing.
